The Patient Participation Group is led by patients to facilitate communication between patients and Practice Staff.
Our Aims:
- to enhance communication between patients and the Practice.
- to pass on patients suggestions for patient care improvements.
- to relay information on topics of interest to the patients.
- to publicise and take part in local support group activities.
(Please note that we are not able to deal with individual complaints about staff or clinicians. These should be made to Practice using the existing complaints procedure linked here.)
What do we do?
We produce a regular newsletter which is sent electronically to members (see below to register) and is included in the local magazines for Knebworth, Datchworth and Woolmer Green. There is a closed Facebook group, called Knebworth and Marymead Medical Practice.
Our monthly meetings are held face to face in Knebworth Surgery waiting room or by Zoom. We usually have a member of the Practice Staff to update us on surgery matters and a Speaker on topics of interest, for example:
“Where does our money go? Funding in the Health and Care System,”
“How Music and movement can help patients with Parkinson’s,”
Citizens Advice Bureau, Care in Herts. etc
We support the regular Knebworth Health Walks, followed by refreshments in the Bowls club. We take part in the Knebworth Festival Fun Day to raise funds. We have bought and maintain two defibrillators for local use.
Information Evenings. Our PPG representatives on the Primary Care Network help to organise sessions with Speakers on topics like Prostate cancer, Dementia, Autism and ADHD. Two of our Officers present for “Cancel our Cancer”, an initiative to involve the community in cancer awareness.
Help Yourself to Health is an annual event in the Village Hall for Patients to listen to Speakers on health related matters and to visit information stalls from local support organisations.
The Group is open to all patients. We value your views on what is being done in the Practice and welcome any suggestions you may have for improving the service given.
